(5–4–3–2–1 senses + breathing)

When your body goes into panic but nothing is actually on fire, you need something simple you can do anywhere. This 60‑second reset uses your senses and your breath to remind your nervous system that, in this moment, you are safe enough to take one gentle step.
Steps:
Orient: Name 5 things you see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear.
Breathe: Practice square breathing.
Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4.
Repeat for 3–4 cycles.
Reassure yourself: “Right now, in this room, I am safe enough to take one gentle step.”
You can use this reset any time your thoughts start racing or your body feels on edge. Each time you come back to your senses and your breath, you teach your system that it no longer has to live in emergency mode all the time
